Lisieux Animals dog walking terms and conditions

IMG_4817

We offer half-hour, or hour-long dog-walking sessions as standard, with longer walks by arrangement. These walks will be one on one, just me and your dog (or if you have two dogs, the pair) but, unlike some dog-walking services, we don’t take out large groups of dogs, or mix dogs from different households. We always walk a dog on a lead, and always clean up, should your dog mess on the pavement. Please ensure that your dog is up to date with vaccinations, flea, tick, and de-wormer treatments. We ask to meet with any potential clients and their dogs prior to any booking taking place.

Elderly dogs that just need a shorter walk, and a bit of fuss can be catered for by arrangement. Puppies who will need shorter walks during that period after their vaccinations when they first get to go outside but are too young for long walks can also be catered for. If you want, we can take them out with one of our dogs to act as a ‘big brother’ to them.

You will need to supply us with a key to your house. You should also let your neighbours know that we will be visiting your property – dog-walkers are usually a bit muddy, wet, and bedraggled, and may well look suspicious to them! Your key will not be labelled with any personal details and will be stored in a secure location when not in use.

Travel costs will be charged at £0.40 per mile.

We ask that your dog isn’t aggressive, and you make us aware of any issues or triggers that should be avoided, like horses or the dustmen, as well as any health changes that your dog may be experiencing. Lisieux Animals cannot be held responsible for injury caused, either by your dog, or to it, and accepts no liability for any loss or damage caused by your dog while on a walk. While we would make every effort to contact you in the event of an emergency, we recommend you also provide us with a contact number of a trusted third party should we be unable to make contact. However, we reserve the right to make decisions regarding your dog's health provided it is at all times acting in the best interests of the dog and on the advice of a veterinary surgeon. However, Lisieux Animals is not accountable for any veterinary fees or third party claims while your dog is in our care; these are the responsibility of the owner. In the unfortunate and unlikely event that we judge it necessary that your dog needs to be seen by a vet, we at Lisieux Animals will retain all receipts and communication from the veterinary practice to pass on to the owner.

We reserve the right to shorten, or even call off, a walk if we judge it to be in the best interests of the dog, for safety, or for health reasons, e.g., excessive temperatures, thunderstorms, etc. Bitches in season present a difficult set of circumstances which will need to be discussed prior to walking.

On return to your house, your dog will be left where directed, and water bowls topped up as requested. Please bear in mind that if you have an excessively fluffy dog and cream carpets, and it is a wet and muddy day, there is only so much that can be done when armed only with a towel, but we will do what we can.

In your home we will take all reasonable steps to ensure it is safe and secure, but cannot be held responsible for burglaries or accidents/damage caused by your pets.

Lisieux Animals have full public liability (care custody and control) insurance which covers walking while in my care, however we cannot be held liable for any loss, injury, illness, or death of dogs in our care. We recommend that owners have their own full insurance cover. We reserve the right to refuse a booking for any uninsured dog.

We at Lisieux Animals are DBS checked.
